You will work within a modern Cloud Native microservices environment, using technologies such as Java 21/25, Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes and Elasticsearch.

The Role: Java Developer Utrecht

As a Java Developer, you will join one of the newly formed teams. Together with your team, you will be responsible for one of the most critical services within the organization’s platform landscape.

This role is not just about building new functionality. You will also play an active role in making smart technical decisions around performance, maintainability and long-term scalability.

The technical challenges mainly revolve around scalability, data flows, integrations between different systems and designing backend services flexible enough to evolve alongside the growing complexity of the platform. You will be actively involved in technical discussions and architectural decisions. In addition, you will have plenty of room to contribute ideas on how systems can become smarter, more stable and more future-proof.

Growth Opportunities

Due to the strong growth of recent years and the ambitious plans for the future, there are many growth opportunities within the organization. Depending on your current level, you can develop towards positions such as Senior Engineer (if currently Mid-Level), Tech Lead, Staff Engineer or Architect. In the longer term, there are also opportunities to move into roles such as Team Lead or Engineering Manager.

What Is Required?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Around 3+ years of experience as a Java Software Engineer
  • Experience with Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is a plus
  • Experience with Kafka is a plus
  • Experience with Cloud technologies is a plus
  • Experience with modern software architectures is a plus
  • Experience with Clean Coding principles is a plus

  • Salary between € 54.500 and € 86.500 (with significant room for further internal growth)
