  • Do you want to have a direct impact on architecture, technology choices and how data is processed and modeled at scale?
  • Do you enjoy working with smart engineers in a calm, mature environment where quality outweighs speed?
  • And does a salary up to €92,000, a fully paid pension, 27 vacation days and one month of remote work sound appealing to you?

Act quickly, because tech companies of this calibre at this stage are rare!

The organization

This organization has been known for years as the silent engine behind a critical part of daily life for millions of people. A true product company, but better described as a digital infrastructure that touches nearly everyone. Invisible, yet crucial. The impact of this infrastructure is significant. You will be working on systems with real societal importance.

A few years ago, a major transformation was initiated, with tens of millions invested in technology and people. The organization evolved from a traditional software company into a core tech company. The existing application landscape, including legacy systems, was completely rebuilt into an event-driven, multi-tenant SaaS platform. A significant challenge, especially considering the systems serve millions of users and process billions of events.

The organization is now entering its next major phase. What has been done for the application layer will now be done for the data platform. This will be built from scratch, following modern architectural principles, and a new team will be formed to drive this forward.

The culture is clearly engineering-driven. Decisions are made based on content and reasoning, and quality outweighs speed when necessary. At the same time, there is a strong work-life balance, something that is taken seriously. The team regularly attends conferences and hosts internal knowledge sessions, during working hours.

The role: Senior Data Engineer Amersfoort

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will join at a moment where the data platform still needs to be designed and built. You will not be maintaining an existing structure, but instead laying the foundation that you, your team and the wider organization will build upon.

A key part of the role is working with existing data from the current landscape. Not everything starts from zero. There is an existing reality that needs to be translated into a new model, without losing meaning. This requires precision, not only technically, but also in understanding how data has evolved through systems over time and what needs to be preserved.

You operate at the intersection of architecture and implementation. This means you will not only think about how data is ingested and transformed, but also about how the platform as a whole should be structured. How to deal with multiple data sources, and how to preserve historical context.

The systems need to be built in a way that is future-proof for thousands of customers, millions of users and the many variables that define the nature of the data.

AI is also becoming increasingly important. Alongside designing and building this data platform, you will have the opportunity to experiment with AI and the design and application of AI agents, to create additional value for both the development process and end users.

You will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders who depend on accurate and consistent data. This means making decisions that go beyond your own component. You think about how others will use your work and how to design a platform that remains understandable, maintainable and reliable, even as it scales.

This is not a role where you simply build pipelines. It is a role where you help define what the data foundation of an organization will look like.
